Characterisation of Reference Materials for <i>In Situ</i> <scp>Rb‐Sr</scp> Dating by <scp>LA‐ICP‐MS</scp> / <scp>MS</scp>

We present Rb and Sr mass fraction 87Sr/86Sr isotope ratio measurement results for four reference materials (RMs) obtained from the Service d'Analyse des Roches et Minéraux (SARM), Nancy, France: Mica-Mg, Mica-Fe, GL-O FK-N. These RMs have different chemical compositions spanning range of those most K-bearing feldspars micas, making them potential calibration in situ Rb-Sr dating natural minerals by LA-ICP-MS/MS. Selected grains flakes variable degrees heterogeneity observable SEM-EDS EPMA imaging, mapping. This is mainly related to inclusions within substitutions linked crystallographic control alteration processes. The Mica-Mg RM least affected. powders available at SARM were analysed ID-TIMS (87Sr/86Sr Sr) ID-MC-ICP-MS (Rb) after digestion separation. mean 87Rb/86Sr ratios are 155.6 ± 4.7% (2s, as other RMs) 1815 14% 36.2 11% 69.9 5.9% 1.8622 0.36% 7.99 13% 0.75305 0.12% GL-O, 1.2114 0.17% each show dispersion fractions, that differ between reflect their original crystals. heterogeneous Mica-Fe. calculated isotopic ages 521 24 Ma 287 55 89.2 9.9 512 30 proposed age Mica-Fe may be unreliable due elevated individual analysis highly radiogenic composition biotite presence numerous mineral inclusions. recommend use these working values associated uncertainties when using availability well-characterised will allow progress development application approach
